THE OPPORTUNITY

Already home to 100,000+ jobs, the Aerozone contains more than 1,000 acres of re-developable land. This is a rare chance to attract and grow high-value jobs at a key location with multiple transportation options, including rail, trails, highways, freight lines, and an international airport. The Aerozone is already home to a concentration of firms with expertise in growing fields such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and logistics.

THE ISSUE

An airport. Interstate highways. Large manufacturing plots. These are all assets, but they also create barriers to access. Portions of the area are disconnected. Although business and institutional leaders in Northeast Ohio have been working to establish an identity for this area, many locals do not view this area as a cohesive place.

THE TEDI

The Aerozone Transportation and Economic Development Initiative (TEDI) will seek to address barriers and provide an actionable roadmap for an innovative, thriving employment hub. This plan will have a regional impact as it connects nine communities and 2.1 million people through shared infrastructure and opportunity.

Over an 18 month period, beginning in June 2025, a team of consultants will be conducting research to evaluate environmental conditions, redevelopment opportunities, and gaps in the infrastructure that are holding back additional investment and opportunity. We’re looking at every way people and goods move. Roads, rail, bike, public transit and pedestrian paths are all on the table to improve access and efficiency.

During the TEDI process our team will engage the public and various stakeholders, analyze various transportation infrastructure scenarios, and determine the best plan to meet the safety, connectivity, and capacity needs of the future Aerozone. At the end of this process, the team will select the most efficient and effective plan to carry forward. The plan will identify a number of specific transportation projects and prioritize them for funding. Whether you plan to fly, commute, or invest, the TEDI will shape how the region grows and thrives.
